Stephen King.....

Allrighty Int-netz....very serious question for you that has nothing to do with the love of my life being deployed here very shortly to parts unknown....places unheard of.....the man I have loved since I was a weeeeeeeeeeee 15 years old going "over there" sniiiiifffff. Yeah, nothing to do with all of that. My question is this:

I got a Nook (fabulousfabulousloveitmorethenlifeluvluvluvluvluv!!!) for Christmas. It had to be back ordered cause they were sold out. It came at the beginning of February. I am embarrassed at the number of ebooks I have on there already. It is only the 10th. I orederd another book last night. When my husband asked me I was ordering ANOTHER BOOK! I may have said no. I may need an intervention...but not yet cause the new JD Robb and Sooky Stackhouse books are coming out soon. And I may have pre-ordered them. heh.

My question dear friends is....do you download Stephen King if you have a Nook or a Kindle?? Do you have Stephen King books in your house?? I love Stephen King and read him whenever I go into Barnes and Noble aka Sanctuary To My Soul but bring him home? Nope. Why you ask?? Ummmmmmm, don't laugh okay.........I'm scared that stuff in his books are going to hop out and get me in the middle of the night. There! I said it! I feel lighter already. I'm totally nervous that if I download his newest book in my Nook that the dark forces whom prowl around looking for mamby pambys like myself will hop out of there in the middle of the night and eat half of my face off. They will probably look like clowns too and that just makes me shiver in my parts and pieces. Did I ever tell you that when Cabbage Patch dolls were popular my grandmother had big ones made for the two oldest granddaughters and heh...I was one of the lucky ones?? Yep. Scared me to death. I hated that thing. I just knew it came alive in the middle of the night and walked over to my bed and looked at me. She and I would have a stare down every night before I went to sleep. I would tell her that I wasn't scared of her and she would stare back at me all silently like and spooky-thinking in her doll head that oh yes I was and just wait til I shut my eyes cause then she was gonna walk over and luuuuuuuuuk at me......and possibly eat half of my face off.

So what say you on the Stephen King books?? Download or not download?? Has anyone downloaded a book of his (looking at you reader extraordinaire Mary!!) and not had their face half eaten off? Hmmmm did ya read him and make it out alive?? Inquiring minds need to know.

Thank you and good day.

LOL. I'm still trying to get myself to like audio books. The MP3 ones are an improvement, and I keep thinking I could listen to one while I sew or work around the house and read another actual book sitting in my recliner in the evenings. Instead I find myself reading lots of blogs and not reading the actual books or listening to the ones on mp3.

I don't have a reader but with King's books I turn the book on it's cover when I go to sleep...makes me feel safer...LOL

I have read almost all of King's books, and I love him. Don't read him right before you go to sleep, as they tend to be scary.

I am so ROFLOL! I don't download books so I can't help. Maybe you can put your nook outside at night? ;P

I don't have a Nook or a Kindle and I just checked and no I don't have any Stephen King books on my shelf but I have read a lot of them. They need to be read in the middle of the day in a lot of sunlight, definately not in a house when your dearest has been deployed!!! So either get it and read it very quickly now or just read him in the safety of Barnes and Noble!!!!

Very interesting question... As I made it to page 3 of Misery... I'd say NO!!! But then again, you can just close the nook and the book will be gone- totally, 'til its daylight again. Or you could open something nice and friendly like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory right before you sleep- to get rid of all those King visions.

Alright Dearheart,
Why didn't you tell your mother that the dumb cabbage patch doll scared you? I thought it was ugly and would have burned it with you.

I have a Kindle (love it, love it!), but don't read Stephen King. I did, however, drive by his house when we lived in Maine. He has a cool spider on his gate. I hear he's a really nice guy so I'm sure there is some kind of "anti boogeyman" thing that will protect you if you do download! And just to be double'y extra special sure, put it in it's case at night and zip it up!

I love BOOKS and I do mean BOOKS. So no electronic device for me and no downloading. I want to hold a book and feel paper pages. If Stephen King feels the same, something WILL happen if you download his stories on a Nook (even the words Nook and Kindle horrify me *lol*).
I have every King book in my bookcase. On paper.

I love Audio books but is the nook one of the new ones you read off or listen to, not up with that! Stphen King is the only book that I have ever had to put way, out of the house, without finishing it...scared the ......out of me, and stayed with me as well! So, no, not downloadable here!

Well last year I read 112 books...none of which were King. I am to much a scardy cat to even read them...there now that is one of my big secrets out in the open. And I haven't done a reader yet, I am a very proud patron of my local library which lets me order books on line and even tells my when they are waiting for me on a special shelf!

God is with you, God is with you, God is protecting you, His angels are surrounding you....download Stephen King if you want to. God and His angels are Bigger and BADDER than any character Stephen King can create......right?
Love you girlfriend!

I don't read Stephen King - he's just too weird for me -- I love murder mysteries but that's probably not the same thing.....I think it's probably safe.

I ordered a bunch of books when I first got mine but now I tend to order 3-4 at a time and wait until I read those to order more. Since I can order them at any time even in the middle of the night I don't have to worry about running out of reading material.

Are you having a wonderful trip?

I don't have a Nook or a Kindle (though I got Jack one for Christmas), but I do have most all his hardbacks (except the Dark Tower Series, puhleeeaase--can't stand them) and I have the good ones with pictures! GASP! Those are the ones you have to worry about.

Oh, and I have a few of his audio books, too. Scared the pee-turkey out of myself with "The Mist" driving on a deserted road in the middle of New Mexico after dark one night.

It was great.
