Apple Pie....

Today was a good day. The hubby is home....so I am totally lovin life and chewing on him at every opportunity :) Viva la love! This morning he decided to make us some Bean Stew. We needed a ham hock and no normal ham hock will do when thou art married to a black man. He got online and found a really neat meat market. We went with cash in our hands and purchased two very lovely specimens. He also decided that I should make him an apple pie. We needed to go to the street market so I could get the very yummy Amish butter. Here is where things always get dicey in my stories. There was much discussion as to how to make the pie. I had a really good idea in my head buuuuuut The Capt had looked online and started quoting Paula Deen. When we were at the market I got this really neat spice for pie. Everything was thrown together and put into the oven. An hour later we had this.....
this int-netz is called slop. What does slop taste like??? It was bad. Really really bad. I don't know where I went wrong but good golly! The horror!!! Learn from my mistake....do not add, under any circumstances, do not add dark brown sugar and some crazy pie spice that you get at a market.
I am off to find us some tums....and pepto bismal.

Oh my! Apple pie? Just go to www.foodtv.com and look up Paula Dean's recipe! Or, better yet, go to the freezer section in the commissary and look for Sarah Lee! She got it right!

That's the Apple Pie? I thought it might be the bean stew.

I was watching Bobby Flay's Throwdown last night and they were making Apple Pie...must say the two versions they cooked up looked a little more appetizing than this.

I was wondering if you mixed in some of those ham hocks into your apple pie! I think you need to make another one just to prove that you can.

My mother wants me to make cheesecake for thanksgiving. I haven't made cheesecake in over 35 years. Wish me luck!
