I thought it pretty good - though I had never read the books. I think I will have to read the books before the rest of the movies come out though.
Our family went during Christmas break. None of us were thrilled with it, but it was Ok. DD and DS had both read the book and thought it was much better.
I haven't seen it but I hear this movie is okay. It is later in the series that it gets controversial.
